Doctor and Patient

CONSULTATION

A cancer patient meets with a specialized physician who carefully listens to their medical history, symptoms and concerns. The oncologist performs a thorough examination, reviews diagnostic tests and explains the diagnosis, stage and treatment options available. They provide personalized guidance, answer questions and develop a comprehensive treatment plan ensuring the patient feels supported and empowered throughout their cancer journey.

IMMUNOTHERAPY

Immunotherapy is a revolutionary cancer treatment that harnesses the power of the immune system to fight cancer cells. It works by stimulating or enhancing the body's natural defenses enabling the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. Immunotherapy can be administered through various methods such as immune checkpoint inhibitors or monoclonal antibodies and has shown remarkable success in treating a range of cancers leading to durable responses and improved survival rates for some patients.

GAMMA KNIFE

Gamma Knife is a non invasive treatment option for certain types of brain tumors and other neurological conditions. It utilizes precise, focused beams of gamma radiation to target and destroy abnormal cells while minimizing harm to healthy tissues. The procedure is performed in a single or multiple sessions often as an outpatient procedure and offers high precision and effectiveness in treating tumors that are difficult to reach through traditional surgery.

CHEMOTHERAPY

Chemotherapy is a systemic treatment that uses powerful drugs to destroy cancer cells throughout the body. It is administered either orally, intravenously or through injections. The purpose of chemotherapy is to stop or slow down the growth of cancer cells, shrink tumors and prevent their spread, often used in combination with other treatment modalities such as surgery or radiation therapy to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient.

HORMONAL THERAPY

Hormonal therapy also known as endocrine therapy, is a treatment approach used for certain types of hormone sensitive cancers such as breast or prostate cancer. It aims to disrupt the hormonal signals that promote cancer growth. Hormonal therapy can involve the use of medications that either block the production of hormones or interfere with their action effectively slowing down or inhibiting the growth of hormone-driven tumors. This targeted approach helps manage and control cancer by utilizing the body's hormonal system.

SBRT

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) is an advanced form of radiation therapy that delivers high doses of radiation to cancerous tumors with extreme precision. It uses advanced imaging techniques to precisely locate the tumor and multiple beams of radiation to target it from different angles. SBRT is typically completed in just a few sessions and offers a highly effective treatment option for small, localized tumors providing excellent tumor control while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

TARGETED THERAPY

Targeted therapy is a type of cancer treatment that specifically targets cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy cells. It works by blocking the specific molecules or pathways that cancer cells need to grow and survive. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, targeted therapy is tailored to the individual's specific cancer characteristics such as genetic mutations or protein overexpression resulting in more precise and potentially more effective treatment strategies.

RADIOTHERAPY

Radiation therapy or radiotherapy is a localized cancer treatment that uses high-energy radiation to destroy cancer cells and shrink tumors. It works by damaging the DNA within cancer cells  preventing them from dividing and growing. Radiation therapy can be delivered externally (external beam radiation) or internally (brachytherapy) and the treatment plan is carefully tailored to the specific type, size and location of the cancer, aiming to maximize effectiveness while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

BRACHYTHERAPY

Brachytherapy is a type of radiation therapy that involves placing a radiation source directly into or near the tumor site. It delivers a high dose of radiation to the targeted area while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. Brachytherapy can be used to treat various types of cancer, such as prostate, cervical, or breast cancer, and it offers the advantage of precise and localized radiation delivery, often resulting in excellent treatment outcomes with minimal side effects.

Intraoperative-Radiation-Therapy-1024x695.jpg

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) is a specialized technique where radiation is delivered directly to the tumor site during surgery. It involves the use of a mobile radiation device that delivers a high dose of radiation precisely to the affected area while sparing nearby healthy tissues. IORT is particularly beneficial for certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer as it allows for targeted radiation delivery during the surgical procedure, potentially improving local tumor control and reducing the need for additional radiation treatments.
